Umsonst & Draußen Festival: Powerful lighting with beamZ

Umsonst & Draußen is a music festival in Germany, bringing together a wide range of musical styles, from rock and metal to pop and traditional German music. This calls for a versatile lighting setup that can switch effortlessly between dynamic effects, sharp beams, powerful washes and impressive strobe effects.
Artur Grauberger of Great Stage Events and his team were responsible for the technical production of much of the festival. They chose a versatile rig featuring beamZ and beamZ Pro fixtures, designed to match the energy and dynamics of every performance.
The stage rig featured 8 Ignite300A moving heads, 8 MHL1912 fixtures, 4 Ignite740 wash moving heads, 9 LCB300 fixtures, 4 BS1100IP units, 4 SB400 fixtures and 2 SB220IP blinders. A further 3 LCB300 fixtures, 10 Starcolor72 units and 8 Starcolor128 units were used to illuminate the festival grounds, bars, entrance and backstage areas.
The Ignite300A delivered dynamic effects, from powerful beams during rock and metal performances to varied gobo projections. The 4 Ignite740 fixtures served as side lighting, with the built-in CTO channel allowing the team to adjust the colour temperature.
The 4 BS1100IP units delivered powerful strobe effects and wide light output, illuminating large areas of the site. Meanwhile, the Starcolor72 and Starcolor128 fixtures provided broad, even illumination across the bars, entrance and backstage areas, thanks to their frost filters.
With powerful effects, versatile moving heads and effective site lighting, the beamZ rig provided a flexible lighting solution for a festival where every performance brought something different.
